I feel fortunate to be part of a young, struggling, ever-growing society. Alongside all the conflicts in this region there is an incredible cultural wealth to be inspired by.
In my work, I attempt to engage in a dialogue with past and present Mediterranean cultures that are associated with my physical surroundings and immediate landscape, like the cypresses which greet me every time I look out my studio’s windows.
I would like to think of myself as a single link in a great, endless chain, connecting cultures and nations that have lived here long before me, including cavemen whose 8,000 year old rock tools turned up in my garden.
